MDA to develop advanced technology instruments for planetary exploration

Richmond, B.C. - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA), a provider of essential information solutions, announced today that it has signed two contracts totaling CA$1.2 million with the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) to develop advanced technology instruments for future planetary exploration programs. The contracts include options for up to an additional $1.4M.

MDA will develop two science instrument prototypes for use on models of potential future lunar and Mars rovers, the first will explore for minerals on planetary surfaces, and the second is a Lunar Ground Penetrating Radar to characterize the lunar subsurface.
