Richmond, B.C. - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA), a provider of essential information solutions, announced today it has been awarded a five year contract for $2.5 million (CAD) by Luossavaara Kiirunavaara Aktiebolag (LKAB). MDA’s solution will provide LKAB with critical information to monitor surface deformation at and in the vicinity of their Kiruna, Sweden mine. David Hargreaves, a vice president within MDA’s Information Systems group said, ‘This agreement, utilizing RADARSAT-2 based InSAR surface monitoring, is a significant demonstration of the high level confidence in RADARSAT-2 to detect millimeter changes in surfaces using space based technology. This project will provide the level of detail required by LKAB.’
