Richmond, B.C. - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA), a provider of essential information solutions, announced today that it has signed a $1.5M CAD contract with an interdepartmental Canadian Government agency to provide a prototype mobile information solution to assist first response teams at crime and terror sites in assessing threat levels.
As the prime contractor MDA will integrate its Instant Scene Modeler, a sophisticated 3-Dimensional surveillance camera, with a variety of contaminant sensors on a mobile platform, and provide the data processing and fusion to create a real time three dimensional view of the scene overlayed with physical and contaminant measurements. This information is used by first responders who control the mobile solution from a safe distance to assess the scene and associated contaminant threat levels and to plan their course of action. Contaminant sensors include chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear sensors.
