Essential Land Information Requests To Be Completed By Canterbury And Sandwell In One-Tenth The Time

Richmond, B.C. - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA), a provider of essential information solutions, announced today that it has signed about $7.6 million in contracts to modernize the processing of land information requests for Canterbury City Council and Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council in England.

The United Kingdom's Local Authority Modernization Program (LAMP) aims to significantly decrease response time to land and property information requests, and several local authorities are being modernized by MDA to achieve this goal. As part of LAMP, MDA will provide turnkey systems for the Canterbury and Sandwell and maintain them, as well as manage the process of converting paper records to a digital database for the new systems.

Land information requests will be processed largely electronically, bringing down the delivery time by a factor of ten. Both Councils will implement a Land and Property Gazetteer and modernize and integrate their land and property systems.

LAMP is part of the National Land Information System (NLIS) in the United Kingdom. The program is already helping to modernize Local Authorities in Slough, Liverpool, Telford & Wrekin and South Norfolk.
