MDA Contracted to Build DigitalGlobe's Next-Generation Satellite Image Processing System

Richmond, B.C. - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA) announced today that its Information Systems group has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract from BAE SYSTEMS for a satellite image product generation system for DigitalGlobe's next-generation WorldView imaging system. The system is expected to be delivered and operational in 2005.

MDA's image product generation system will provide DigitalGlobe with advanced processing capabilities, converting raw imagery acquired by its high resolution WorldView satellite into image products for distribution to, and exploitation by, commercial and defense / intelligence customers in the U.S. and worldwide. The system will build on DigitalGlobe's existing QuickBird product generation capability delivered by MDA in 1999, adding new image products and substantially increasing the total product generation capacity.

BAE SYSTEMS is the System Integrator of the Worldview's Production Segment for DigitalGlobe. MDA has delivered numerous product generation systems and upgrades for DigitalGlobe and is one of its WorldView program partners.
