September 6 ViaSat litigation settled
MDA today announced they have settled the litigation with ViaSat Communications, Inc. pursuant to a comprehensive settlement agreement. Under the agreement, all litigation between the parties will be dismissed, resolving all of the parties patent and contract claims. The settlement gives MDA/SSL and their customers protections against litigation in the future, allowing MDA/SSL to focus on the manufacture of all satellites, including SSL's high throughput satellites.

April 24 ViaSat Litigation Update
MDA announced today that a jury in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California has returned a verdict in the action of ViaSat Communications, Inc. against MDA's subsidiary Space Systems/Loral, LLC ("SSL") involving claims of patent infringement and breach of contract. The jury found that SSL infringed ViaSat patents and breached certain non-disclosure obligations to ViaSat. The jury awarded US$283 million in damages for patent infringement and for breach of contract.
