Landmannalaugar Lava Flows, Iceland

Satellite technology is one of the only ways we can capture images of some of the more remote portions of the planet. Ultra-Fine scenes cover an area of 20 km x 20 km at 3 m resolution and this image shows some unique geological features that most people will never see. The Landmannalaugar lava flows, in the colourful Rhyolite mountains, are located in a remote portion of a park east of Reykjavik, Iceland. Mining companies use satellite technology to remotely “scout” areas of interest for exploration.
