The portal is an online discovery platform that allows users to search from hundreds of thousands of images, within seconds, via an intuitive visual user interface. The platform provides a variety of options for defining search areas. Users can create their own polygon, select a previously saved Area of Interest (AOI), or import a shapefile. Filtering options, which include image acquisition dates, satellite, polarization, beam modes, beam position, swath direction, spacecraft orientation, relative orbit, and incidence angle, ensure only the most relevant results are displayed. Users can browse returned scenes in groups of up to 100 at a time, displayed on a georeferenced background.

The RADARSAT-2 Portal supports easy online price quotations. Users simply select the images they are interested in from the search results menu, and requests are sent directly to the MDA Client Services team. The team will respond with a formal price quotation and the information required to complete a transaction.
